Decorative Palm Plantation

View of the nursery buildings at Suculté, the largest plantation of decorative palms in  the world

AAMJ was instrumental in designing and commissioning a 370 Ha Chamadorea palm plantation for the FCO in Guatemala. The site, which borders on Belize, was conceived to lower cross border tensions caused by wild chamadorea harvesters incurring into Belize territory and depleting natural stocks in the National Parks. By growing palms in a plantation environment and replanting the young shoots in natural forest, dimished stocks due to overharvesting were restored.
